Position Summary

The Institute of Agricultural Technology (www.iat.msu.edu) in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Michigan State University (MSU) is seeking candidates to serve as the instructor for HRT 212 – Landscape Plants II (5-month fixed term system, 100% teaching).

Instructional responsibilities include teaching HRT 212 – Landscape Plants II (3 credits) for the Institute of Agricultural Technology during the Fall 2018 semester. Course will be delivered in Muskegon, Michigan at Muskegon Community College. HRT 212 contact hours will be 2 hours lecture, recitation, or discussion per week and 2 hours of lab per week (4 hours of total contact time per week) for 15 weeks of instruction.

Position is planned to recur every Fall Semester.

Required Degree

Masters -Horticulture

Desired Degree

Doctorate -Horticulture

Minimum Requirements


  • M.S. in Horticulture or related fields

  • Experience in the plant identification and horticulture.

  • Knowledge and skills to develop teach resources in plant identification and horticulture.

  • Excellent teaching, oral and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Horticulture or related fields

  • Experience in development and assessment of learning outcomes

  • Undergraduate teaching experience and a passion for teaching
