Central Michigan University Foundational Science Faculty (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) in Mount Pleasant, Michigan
The Central Michigan University College of Medicine (CMED) is seeking a highly qualified faculty member to teach in the Society & Community and Art of Medicine course with broad training in ethics, law, social science or medical humanities. The successful candidate will assume a role in the ongoing improvement of a highly integrated, cross-disciplinary, clinical presentation and inquiry-based medical school curriculum that includes Case-Based and Team-Based Learning. Scholarship expectations are those related to teaching and learning and the development of educational modules as well as research in ones area of expertise. This position can be full or part time depending on the candidate and at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank, depending on credentials, and is available immediately. Start date is negotiable.
Doctoral degree (PhD, JD, MD/DO) in a a field related to ethics, law, medical social sciences, humanities or other health related field. Record of scholarly activity with the expectation of continued scholarly activity. Experience in health professions education and commitment to innovative approaches to education and learning Ability to facilitate interactive learning in large and small group settings Strong collaborative and communication skills Demonstrated commitment to diversity. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Experience with cross-disciplinary teaching in an integrated medical school curriculum based on patient and/or problem-based medical education. Experience with, or a strong knowledge of, pedagogical approaches such as team-based learning.
Scholarly interests that complement existing research in health sciences research are desirable, but not essential
