We are looking for a qualified candidate to use X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) to quantify diverse morphologies related to plant biology (e.g., root and shoot architectures, soil structure, etc.) and objects from other disciplines, as well. Experience using X-ray CT technologies is highly desired. The candidate is expected to develop protocols to scan large sets of objects using X-ray CT, manage data flow of the resulting 3D and 4D reconstructions, work with mathematicians and computational scientists to analyze and disseminate the data, and be an ambassador to other disciplines, helping to explain the technology and the mathematical methods used to analyze the data. The candidate will be expected to write up results and analyses for scientific publications.
This position will start on September 1, 2018 and is initially for one year with a possibility of an extension based on the availability of funding and performance.
Experience and knowledge regarding using X-ray CT scanning technology.
Evidence of the ability to write scientific papers and research independence is required, as well.
Experience with and willingness to learn new mathematical techniques and explain to others with diverse disciplinary backgrounds is desired.
