GENERAL SUMMARY: Senior Actuary, Actuarial and Healthcare Analyticsis a senior level actuarial position that initiates and leads the development of actuarial studies and analyses, making appropriate recommendations to actuarial management. Gives direction to less experienced staff and works to develop efficient processes and applies actuarial techniques and statistical analysis to several functions, including insurance premium and pricing development, claim trend analysis, experience studies, medical economics, profitability analysis, wellness studies, predictive modeling, or claim reserving. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Leads modeling development of revenue and claim estimates including but not limited to risk scores & adjustments, trend, claim reserves, premium deficiency reserves, drug rebates and reinsurance recoveries and reserves.Generates pricing metrics for profitability management, benchmark analytics and modeling.Outlines data requirements for studies and modeling. Gives direction to less experienced staff and reviews the appropriateness of the results considering experience and industry knowledge.Leads team in the development of studies, analyses, and presentation materials needed to appropriately inform decision makers. Make appropriate recommendations to management across teams and within the actuarial department.Manage own time and resources across many projects, focusing on quality, time, scope, usefulness, and appropriateness of work. Carry out recurring projects with minimal assistance and oversight. Keep manager informed.Partner with Medical Management, Operations and others to develop, track and validate opportunities to appropriately reduce medical expenses.Implement analytic techniques and predictive models to support medical cost reduction and health cost initiatives.Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEBachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Closely Related Field.Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in an Actuarial role.Advanced proficiency in Excel, especially in model development. Experience with data visualization tool, Tableau preferred.Possesses and applies an in-depth knowledge of actuarial principles, concepts, practices and processes within multiple fields or disciplines.Possesses significant expertise to complete complex assignments and ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems while leading others to complete straightforward assignments.CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) preferred.Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) required.Overview Henry Ford Health System, one of the largest and most comprehensive integrated U.S. health care systems, is a national leader in clinical care, research and education.
