Description

Position Summary: This position is expected to perform complex and confidential duties

to facilitate the review and approval process of proposed research activities

involving human subject at MHC and its subsidiaries. This position will have responsibility for

Human Subject Protection (including submission analysis, compliance, and oversight)

and IRB Operations (including communication with the researchers and other

institutions) as well as other duties falling under the HRPP department. This position will report directly to the Director

Corporate HRPP department.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Interprets and applies federal and state laws and regulations andinternal policies and guidelines to the use of human subjects in researchproposals

  • Maintains a current understanding and knowledge of federal andstate regulations as well as local IRB policies and procedures

  • Participates in continuing education and national and/or regionalorganizations devoted to the promoting research ethics and the protectionof human subjects

  • Develops and maintains contacts among peers at other institutions,monitors on-going national discussions on regulatory and ethical issues

  • Participates in federal and internal audits and inspections aspertain to the IRB and HRPP department.Must be willing to travel to different location for internal audits

  • Reviews research protocol submissions to assure compliance withfederal, state and institutional regulations and policies pertaining tothe Human Research Protection Program

Qualifications

Required:

  • BA/BS degree (biology, psychology or other clinicalresearch-related area) or equivalent experience required

  • Two years of experience in IRB administration, research orregulatory affairs

  • Certified IRB Professional (CIP) is highly desirable or will berequired within two years of employment

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with IRB software platforms is a plus
